I apologize if this isn't the right board, but I wasn't sure where to post. I also posted on the general IF board, but did not get any replies.
A friend recently tested positive for Down's Syndrome on her AFP. She is 32 and her risk came back at 1:200, which is still very low, but was considered positive for her age group.
She had a Level II u/s today and the doctor said that the upper chambers of the heart are beating very fast, like in the 170 range, while the bottom two chambers are beating much slower, in the 70 range. They have referred her to a specialist, as they are concerned that there may be something wrong with the baby, although nothing specific or conclusive has been determined as yet.
Are heart disorders of this type considered another marker for Down's? If anyone has any experience with these kinds of test results, or if you can refer me to another board to post this question, I would really appreciate it. I would like to pass on any info I can to her. If it matters, she is not an IF patient, and she has a 2 yr. old.
Thank you very much in advance,
Greygirl
