Septate Uterus - pregnancy (preg/MC/child mentioned)
Posted by svanhoo1 on 17:20 4/21/2005:
After suffering four miscarriages (three first trimester & one second trimester) almost eight years ago, my daughter had surgery to remove a uterine septum. She had a son a year after her surgery who was born two months early due to a placental abruption. My grandson had a grade III bleed in the brain, developed hydrocephalus, was shunted, and developed bacterial meningitis at two weeks of age. When my grandson was three, my daughter started trying to get pregnant again. It took about two years, but she was able to conceive. She lost the pregnancy at about 7 weeks. Two years later, she was pregnant again, but miscarried at 9 weeks. After my daughter's last miscarriage (her 6th), her dr. did an other HSG and she was told her uterus looked BU. Her dr. thinks she may still have a septum and told her not to get pregnant until she had surgery again to remove the remaining septum. She was put on a low dose birth control pill. After a few months, she didn't have a period and called her dr. Her dr. said that the low dose pill wasn't strong enough that she would change it if she came in for a pap smear. She went to the dr. for the pap and she put her on a stronger pill. She took the stronger pill for a month and still didn't have a period. She decided to do a pregnancy test and the test was positive. Of course my daughter is scared to death of another miscarriage. What are the odds of the baby implanting in a good place? Anyone on the board with a septate uterus and successful pregnancy???? Also, does anyone know what taking the pill can do to the pregnancy?
Thanks,
Shannon
