strange tripple test results

Posted by thy68 on 20:32 9/6/2005:

Hello,

History-I am 36, healthy, 1st pregnancy, no other personal health issues. At 14 1/2 weeks had major bleeding. The heavy part stopped after 5 hours and for two weeks after I just spotted. Ultra sound showed a blood clot in uterus but placenta looked fine. Baby measured fine.

Now I am 17 weeks now...Just received my tripple screen back with strange numbers....it was done on 16.3 days......it showed hCG high at 7.92, downs ratio at 1/107 and NTD at 1/10.

I realize that a majority of abnormal screens will actually result with a baby with out a birth defect. However, with some of the research.....why am I at such great risk on both, especially the NTD.

We are getting an amnio but results will not be in for 2 weeks.......a long wait.......can bleeding make the AFP so high that is would alter the NTD ratio that much ???? any info would be helpful.......

Thanks, Tina
