Cervix/Braxton Hicks question

Posted by psucaseys on 13:45 11/29/2005:

Hi, Dr. Cusick-

Thanks for running this board, it's much appreciated.

I am 21 weeks with twins. I had my 20 week level II last week and all looked fine. A few questions that I forgot to ask my Peri...

1) My cervix had shortened from 47mm at 17 weeks to 37 mm at 20 weeks. Is that a cause for concern? He said anything above 25 is considered great and that I shouldn't worry. What are your thoughts?

2) I've been having days of non-stop Braxton Hicks contractions. Sometimes more than 10 in an hour, but no other symptoms such as pain, increased discharge, etc - just the hardening/tightening of the uterus. Is this cause for concern, and could this be why my cervix has thinned 10 mm over the course of 3 weeks?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jill
