IUGR and aspirin?
Posted by graceb on 16:43 12/2/2005:
My first 2 children had "suspected" IUGR. My dd was born at 5 lbs, 15 ozs; my ds was 6 lbs. 3 ozs., both born a couple of days before their due date. I am now 22 weeks pregnant. The baby was measuring perfectly at my 20 week u/s. My ob plans on starting growth u/s's at 30 weeks, possibly earlier if my fundal measurements start to fall behind again. I have heard of many women taking aspirin who are at risk of IUGR. My dr. has never mentioned this to me. How does aspirin help and do you think this is worth bringing up with my ob? My suspected cause of IUGR was placental insuffiency. No hypertension problems.
Also, do you think there is any correlation between low prenancy weight gain and low birth weight babies? I am thin to begin with (5'8", 117 lbs.) and in past pregnancies have only gained about 20 lbs. My ob says this is fine.
Thank you so much for all of your time and help. Your are very much appreciated at INCIID!
Kim
