Question Re: 2nd VBAC(prev preg ment.)..m

Posted by bella1 on 00:12 12/4/2005:

wanted your opinion...I am 37, had 1st ds in 1990 was primary csection due to prolapsed cord-labored well was 8cm at time of section; went thru 10yrs of sec infertility, finally had second ds in 2001..tried to VBAC..unfortuneatly had mild preclampsia at 38wks was induced (cervix unfavorable)... repeat section due to failure to progress....did IVF in 2003 had dd in 6/04...requested to try for VBAC again with my OB as long as i went into labor naturally...he would not induce my labor ...had uncomplicated pregnancy, went 1 week over due date, had SROM with contractions starting soon thereafter...stayed home as long as possible....was 6cm/100%effaced/-1station when I arrived...dd born 2 hrs later successful VBAC- she weighed 8lbs12oz.....

am probably getting ahead of myself here but am planning on doing FET in about 4 months....my OB has moved away & at a recent appt with a new OB here I mentioned the FET & he remarked that if I was to become pregnant he would not let me VBAC again - he would only do repeat section.....

I was not pleased at this & told him that I would not be using his services with my pregnancy if i concieved......he stated that VBAC was more dangerous than what was initially thought...

I disagree with him...i think many OBs are getting caught up in the liablity issues with this....I am well aware of the risks of both VBAC & csections...researched this very well not to mention have 15yrs experience as a family, & OB nurse practitioner..... in addition overall it is my choice....

my question..since I have had a successful VBAC with my last pregnancy...what are your thoughts about this....
Thanks in advance,
Bella
