I am about 9.5 weeks pregnant. At about 8 weeks we found out that one of our twins lost its heartbeat, though the other one continues to grow nicely. They told me it's vanishing twin syndrome and that the lost twin would most likely just "reabsorb". The doctor said to watch for cramping and/or bleeding, etc, but I have had no signs of bleeding or any real problems (knock wood). I discussed with my OB lst week whether he thought I might need a RhoGam shot (I'm A- and dh and ds are both A+), just in case, because of this. He initially said no, but then several days later called me back and said yes he reconsidered it and now thinks I should get one just to be on the safe side, so I'm going in next week to get one. He did test my blood Rh level last week and said it was fine. One thought I have is whether or not this shot is necessary, and why he only recommended it "on second thought"; another thought is whether or not it's bad that I'm getting it about 2 full weeks after finding out about the demise of the twin. What are your thoughts on all this?
Second question - are night sweats ok? At night I find that I'm often FREEZING (note, our house is at 70 during the night, so I should be fine) and wind up bundling myself up and piling on tons of blankets just to get comfortable. Same thing last night, but what was different last night is that I woke up drenched in sweat, but still freezing, literally SHIVERING cold under all my blankets. The only way for me to get comfortable was to snuggle in deeper into the blankets, despite my sweating. Any possibility of this overheating/causing harm to the baby? I feel otherwise fine, and now this morning I feel normal temp. As far as I know I'm not sick or fighting any kind of bug.
Thanks so much for your response,
