At 5 wks with my daughter...who is now 3....They saw a gest sac, and a yolk sac....no fetal pole...fetal pole and heartbeat is not usually seen until around 6 wks....With this pregnancy (I am currently 10.5 wks) at 5 wks we only saw a gest sac...and what we thought to be a yolk sac....but my RE could not even measure yolk sac yet...too small...one week later there was a yolk sac, fetal pole and hb.....So, IMO you are right on track with what your dr. saw on u/s for 5w1d....
Also, I know all to well how unnerving the spotting is....With my daughter I had ONE instance of brown spotting that was it....Well, with this one....I had spotting on and off through till about 7wks....and the doctor saw a little pocket of blood build up outside the sac...on the u/s....he believed that was causing the spotting....The difficult thing for me is that I have lost 5 pregnancies and with all of them I spotted until I started to miscarry...so I couldn't believe this was ok....BUT IT WAS...I have had no more spotting for weeks now....AND, as you will see, if you read about other peoples experiences...spotting in early pregnancy is VERY COMMON......Oh, and the fact that your beta's are so high is GREAT!!! My betas this time around were OFF the chart....We were actually thinking we had two babies.....When I had my u/s at 5wks...my betas too were very high...and they did not see a yolk sac....Now that you have seen a yolk sac and gest sac....you should not worry about your high betas....it is a positive not a negative...Trust me I did all the research on high betas....and made myself crazy...All my doctors kept telling me...it's a good thing....healthy pregnancy!!!
Sorry, my response is so long....I just felt like I needed to respond to you...your situation is so similar to what I have experienced the last few months....My baby seems to be doing just fine...I've since had 3 u/s's.....
I'm wishing you the very best.......I know how scary it is right now....but hang in there...one day at a time... and if you ever need to just talk or vent....please post to me over on the July board.....
