IC & Activity Guideline question for Dr. WC

Posted by twoangels on 15:07 3/23/2006:

Hi,
I am 15 weeks with Di-Di twins (clomid induced). I had a cerclage placed @ 13 weeks because:

1) First pregnancy- painless dilation, routine MD visit and found I was already 5 cm with membranes protuding @ 19 1/2 weeks (di-di twins- clomid)

2) All testing: uterine shape, hormones etc, revealed nothing. But during delivery was found to have cervical culture +ve for ureaplasma. Chicken or the egg thing. ?IC or ?infection

3) 2nd pregnancy- (di-di twins-clomid); prophylactic cerclage; I put myself on modified bedrest and delivered via c/s @ 34.3 wks d/t PROM & cord as presenting part

At 13 wks, my cervix was 3.7cm. I'll be checked every 2 weeks so I don't know what it currently is. I know you've mentioned that IC is overdiagnosed. With my past history, would you recommend activity restrictions? If so, what type? Limit standing? I was just told to 'take it easy'. I have heard that bedrest does not prevent preterm labor.

Justing wanting your professional thoughts.

Thanks,
Kayla
