Is Lovenox needed with homozygous MTHFR (C677T) (m/c mentioned)?

Posted by la637d on 12:28 6/2/2006:

Hello -

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant with twins from a FET cycle - all scans show they are growing appropriately. I've had three consecutive first-tri losses and have no live children. After the third loss, I was dx with homozygous MTHFR C677T. My homocysteine levels have always been normal and I continue to take Foltx with additional folic acid supplementation. I have also been taking 30mg Lovenox daily since learning I was pregnant. I saw my Perinatolgist for the first time yesterday and he recommends I stop taking Lovenox. He feels I don't need this because my homocysteine levels are normal and I don't have a history of 2nd-tri loss, only first-tri loss. I am very confused because most of the literature I read suggests treatment with Lovenox in my situation is needed throughout pregnancy, not only for the ongoing health of the babies but also for my health - I'm worried if I stop taking it, there might be complications including pre-term labor, preeclampsia and loss of the babies. I have no history of blood clots, but my mother started having TIA's and strokes in her late 40's. I don't know if this would be relevant information for my case.

Thank you in advance for your time.
