I had a single MacDonald stitch placed at 13 weeks this pregnancy and have measured 5cm both pre and post cerclage up until 18wks. I had a scan done yesterday that showed a 2cm length by 2mm width opening filled iwth mucus in the internal OS. There was no "V" at the top just a long thin cylinder filled mucus. There was still 1cm above the stitch that was completely closed. My peri said that for some women this can be normal and that it was not a classical "V" shaped funnelling.
She also said that if it does lead to funnelling and I go to the stitch I will be put on hospital bedrest.
My question to you
1. Is this type of opening the internal OS normal or at least common in women without IC.
2. Have you seen twin pregnancies funnel to the stitch get to 34 weeks or more?
thanks
