Question about dyspnea and palpitations during pregnancy
Posted by jojo74 on 15:21 10/6/2006:
I am currently 10w4d pregnant. I had a lot of edema and shortness of breath with my last pregnancy in 2005, starting at about 14 weeks. The edema has been an ongoing issue even after the pregnancy. I am once again starting to have chronic cough and quite a bit of dyspnea with this pregnancy. I had a cardiac echo done last time that showed some mild mitral and tricuspid regurg, and mildly elevated pulmonary artery pressure. I was told it could be contributing to my dyspnea during pregnancy, but was not significant enough to warrant any further treatment. This time around, I am also having a lot of palpitations. I work in a CCU and sometimes monitor myself during work. I have noticed that I have a sinus dysrhythmia with a variable p wave, and occasional junctional beats. My resting heart rate is often in the 40's- low 50's. I am not athletic and do not exercise regularly. My oxygen saturation is fine, I just feel like it is an effort to keep it there. Is this something I should be concerned about?
