I was diagnosed at 16 weeks with 2 vessel cord. Drs insisted that it was almost always nothing to worry about BUT I was sent to a peri and was closely monitered and had weekly ultrasounds. I was put on bed rest at 7 months because the baby was showing signs of slow growth - I continued with 3 non-stress tests a week and ultimately had a healthy baby girl 4 weeks premature. I read alot about it and about 20% of the time problems can arise (of that 20% there are variety of things from low birth weight to developmental problems) It is important that the drs. know what to look for after the baby is born as well. The internet can scare you but its best to be informed rather than be placated by drs/people. My advice to your friend is to do the research, and be informed. Hope this helps and good luck to your friend. My daughter is almost 3 now and perfect!!
