Risks of succenturiate placenta?
Posted by KristenLynn on 14:37 2/13/2007:
I had a u/s today at 13 weeks (following up on a subchorionic hemmorhage, which is now gone!) and the doctor said it looked like my placenta might turn out to be a succenturiate placenta. He said we'll be able to get a better idea of this after the 18 week u/s. I have a few questions that I've thought of since I left, and I don't have another OB appt for 3 weeks...
1. What percentage of succenturiate placentas develop vasa previa? Can you see vasa previa at the 18 week u/s?
2. If there is no vasa previa, is there a risk of succenturiate placenta alone (other than the risk of retained placenta at delivery)?
Thanks in advance!
Kristen
