shortened cervix (3.1cm) and Subchorionic Hemorrhage at 14weeks

Posted by mikaboo on 19:53 3/4/2007:

I am currently pregnant with triplets, (one set of identical twins plus singleton).

My cervix is shortening over the last two weeks. At 12 weeks it was 3.7cm, and at 14 weeks it went down to 3.1cm, no funneling though. In addition to it, u/s showed subchorionic hemorrhage, of its size 4.5cm x 3.3cm x 1.0cm. It is located closer to my cervix, and I bleed heavily on 13w3d and 14w4d because of it. So far, all the babies are in goos size, with adequate amnio fluid, and all alive.

I am currently prescrived to be on home half modified, half strict bedrest, meaning that I do lay down as much as possible, and do not do much housework, but I am still allowed to drive my son to his hospital for his chemotherapy treatments and to drive to my own appointments. No heavy lifting, no grocery shopping, and try not to be on my feet as much as possible.

I will be seeing another Peri in a week, who is different from the one who found this condition. (I am now in the process of deciding a perinatologist too.)

In this condition at this stage of triplet pregnancy, is thie type of rest adequate?

Should my cervix checked every week instead of every other week?

How short of cervix do you start to consider hospital bedrest?

If there are anything more I should do, I would like to know. My goal is to carry this pregnancy as close to term as possible, and I would like to make sure that I am doing everything I can to achieve it.

Any suggestion is quite appreciated!!

Mika
