Another question on ventriculomegaly

Posted by fishdoc on 14:23 3/30/2007:

Sorry to bring this up again, but you had said "at 18-22 weeks, 10-12mm is considered borderline- at term this is within the normal range and is of likely little to no clinical significance in the absence of T21".

Unfortunately, in my reading of the literature, I have seen several review articles stating that the lateral ventricles are "remarkably stable" in size from 18 weeks until term. This is both counterintuitive and unsettling.

I would just ask if your answer is based on your personal experience with this phenomenon or is from papers I have not discovered? Not at all disagreeing, just trying to convince myself to relax!
