meaning of high hcg?

Posted by kateym on 14:56 12/19/2007:

Hi,

I just found out I was pregnant for the 6th time (4 prior miscarriages, 1 live birth), and I am taking fragmin, prednisone, and 81 mg asa for antiphospholipid antibodies, as well as 100 mg Prometrium 3x a day.

My initial hcg test (at 17 or 18 dpo) was almost 2000. That seems really high to me. Should I be worried about a molar pregnancy or other issues? My OB is not a fan of repeat betas (it's not a fertility clinic) so I have no way of knowing the doubling time, just the absolute value at 17/18 dpo (and I am sure of the dates because I was using ovulation predictors). I guess my question is whether I should be concerned about the hcg.

thanks. Katey
