Update....(babies mentioned)

Posted by Anya on 16:25 2/29/2008:

I just wanted to update you on what happened with me. I last posted worried about losing my mucus plug. I went into the hospital and was having regular Braxton Hicks but u/s showed no change in cervix. My OB ordered an IV bolus of fluid just to be safe...about 3/4 of the way through the bag I developed excruciating flank pain and another u/s showed I had hydronephrosis b/c baby b was laying on my ureter. The u/s now showed that baby b had Hydrops. I was flown out to a major teaching hospital where we learned baby b had ASVD, hydrops and Down Syndrome. We wanted to give baby b a fighting chance and chose to have an emergency c/s as he would not survive a vaginal birth.

Baby B, Jaeden Marc was 4lb 14oz at 32w4d and lived for 41 days before passing away this past Monday night. He had leukemia at birth, liver failure, and was bleeding from his lungs plus developed a bacterial infection. The neonatologist told us they could not keep up with Jaeden's needs as every system in his body was involved. Jaeden's sister Sofia Jenae born at 4lb 4oz is now 5lb 6oz and doing wonderfully.

Thank you for all your help during my pregnancy by answering my many questions.

Anya
