You are absolutely right.
The best way to assess "CPD" is to watch labor and make sure it progressess appropriately.
Most obstetricians feel that it's nearly impossible (except for the really rare circumstances of severe CPD) to diagnose CPD before labor.
If you think your Ob wants to "talk you" into an unneccessary cesarean section, get a second opinion. Now.
Or, see a midwife :)
