How do I clean my Prima Papa high chair? The padding smells(m)

I have been wiping them down after every feeding..and every so often I take the padding and straps off, bring them outside along with the chair itself and just hose it down and let it dry in the California sun! I did this yesterday, and and now the padding smells terribly on both chairs, like it is moldy. This has never happened before. Does anyone know how to get this smell out?? Can i put the padding in the washing machine and dryer, has anyone ever done that??
