INCIID has two moderated adoption forums: Exploring Adoption and Expecting Through Adoption. Moderated forums are those with volunteer professionals who answer INCIIDer questions about the specific board topic. For "chit chat" and general support, visit the Adoption Area Support Forums

Expecting through Adoption is moderated by Pat Johnston, MS and is specifically for those who have made a commitment to adoption as their road to family building. Individual participants have already made choices about who to adopt, how to adopt and where to adopt. It also includes those who are waiting for their chosen professional to get the homestudy, referral or match. This is the board for those matched and waiting for a placement to happen, the folks who are pregnant - by adoption rather than physically, who need a place to deal with getting ready issues such as financials, nesting, getting family and friends on board, "feeling expectant". This is the place to find out how to get what you need from your professionals, what questions to ask about a referral, how to think about openness, and more.

INCIID Rules of Play for Expecting Through Adoption

* This board is a moderated board and not a peer support board. Ask questions here to get answers from Pat Johnston, an acknowledged expert in the field of adoption and adoptive parenting.

* INCIID members who have themselves been through situations similar to those of a poster are welcome to add their valuable experiences to the expert advice of the moderator, however the answers of INCIID members should not be taken as expert advice.

* Anyone may ask a follow-up question continuing discussion. And INCIIDers who have "been there, done that" may offer their opinion or advice, but not in a manner that challenges or argues with the moderator of the board.

* Please do not crosspost - do not post on this board and another board to get "more exposure" for your question.

* If you are looking for peer suppport or answers from your peers specifically, please go to the Adoption Mentoring Board.

* Please respect everyone on this board. We ask that you refrain from debating on this board. Remember that we have a Soapbox and a Parenting Soapbox for debates.

* This board is not for sharing stories or child chatter. Please take those discussions to the Parenting After Adoption (PAA) Board.
