    Default Update on us...

    Hi -

Thanks for asking about us, Annette. I've taken a break from the boards for a while. This latest loss was very hard on us. I'm not sure why it's been so bad, but it has been. Maybe because we knew a little bit more about the embryos that were transferred? Maybe because it really should have worked? I don't know. It's been bad.

In the meantime, we made the follow up with the dr and it was the best follow-up we ever have had. He is making it his personal mission to get me pregnant. There is no reason that he can find why the last round didn't work and why we fell into the 15% instead of the 85%. I've had a hysteroscopy (very interesting, might I add), but nothing was found. There's no reason it didn't work. We had to wait 2 cycles before we can do anything and of course, I had a cyst so my cycle was 6 weeks!!! instead of 4. I'm just now waiting for my period in a few weeks and then I'll start BCPs. With the latest cycle changes, it looks like we'll be transferring in early August.

Mentally, we took a much needed vacation from life to San Diego and are now getting back into the swing of things with summer on the horizon. Like I said, I'm still really upset about this last cycle, but at least we have 4 more embryos waiting for us in the freezer. I'm still not mentally ready for this, but I guess we have some time, right? There have been many people fb-ing pregnancies and I seem to always be around pregnant women. It's been hard.

How's everyone else doing waiting out here? How are you, Annette?

I can see why this last cycle hit you harder, and sometimes it's hard to pinpoint why some losses are harder to bear than others. The last cyle was harder for me too, I think mostly because it is going to be so much harder for us to save up money again and because it was our second ivf and I feel like the more losses we have the less chance we have of being parents. August is still a while away, your heart will have a little more time to heal before you move forward.

I'm still stuck here, nothing going on. No money saved yet because we're still paying off bills from last time. I have been looking at doctors though, just to feel like I'm doing something and not just sitting on my hands. There is a doctor in Las Vegas that my gut is telling me to go with, but I'm just so weary of who to trust and where we have the best chance of success. And if we go there it would take a bit of coordination for someone to take care of our animals (dogs, cat, rabbits, fish - our "farm") and travel arrangements (since we are in CA).

    Patti,
I am really sorry for your loss. Have you looked at the article by Carolyn Coulam, Immunology may be key to pregnancy loss? The only symptoms for these issues are not getting pregnant or losing pregnancies. Dr. Coulam once told me she suspected a number of unexplained infertility case may well be immunological in nature.
Here is a link to the article

So glad to see an update from you, Patti. I'm rooting for you and will lurk on the boards to see your upcoming cycle in August.

Default Thanks for your comments, everyone....

    Hi -

Annette - I'm sorry that you are feeling stuck. But you are being responsible and smart for finishing the first set of bills before getting new ones. How unfair all together, though!!!!! I hope your research now pays off and you can pick the best doctor possible.

Nancy - Thanks for the article. Actually, when we started down our IF path, my immunology was checked first because of my family history. Nothing bad was found. We did do an antibody test in May, and I haven't gotten the results back yet from that. I'll have to ask about doing the immunology again in case something changed. We have male factor.

    Levana - Thanks!!!!

Default And if you are still following along....

I just got off the phone with my doctor's office. We are putting off our FET for another month because they want to transfer 2 days before my sister will be at my house across the country for a week. This is her first time visiting us.

Right now, it looks like we will transfer right before Labor Day...around Aug. 25 if my body keeps the same schedule. I'm at such peace about this whole thing...I'm hoping that it's God's way of saying this is really the right time/thing to do. My dh's work went through massive layoffs last week and this will just be one more week away from that stress, too.....

And about immunology - asked the nurse and she's going to ask the dr about it again tomorrow to see if it should be repeated (or parts of it should be). Thanks for the thoughts on that!

It's great to hear that you're at peace with how things are going, I know when things are postponed sometimes it creates anxiety and I'm glad to hear that waiting a little longer will create a more ideal situation. Keep the updates coming!!
