Dr. Coulam,
In general, do you usually pair the use of Intralipids with Prednisone or other steroids? I am still trying to understand all of the differences between IVIg and Intralipids. My understanding is with the use of IVIg you can usually avoid the use of Prednisone. Can you usually avoid the Prednisone with Intralipids as well? Thanks!! |

There is no usual situation. It really depends on the individual and her risk factors that we are treating. Dr. Coulam

Sorry - I never word my question correctly. Are Intralipids used to reduce Natural Killer cells as well as inflammation or just to reduce the levels of Natural Killer cells?
Thanks so much! |

So far, we only have evidence of lowering NK cell killing. Dr. Coulam

And my limited understanding is that there is research that IVIg can help reduce inflammation as well as reduce natural killer cell numbers. Is that accurate?

Yes, IVIg has many mechanisms of actions. Dr. Coulam
