Default Thanks Everyone! I've calmed down somewhat...

Leela's PT must have seen my call coming, because Leela didn't want to leave her math class for PT. The PT assured her it was alright. Yay for Leela advocating for herself!

We will have a meeting in about a week, the schools are closed today, and the therapists are only at the school 2 or 3 days a week.

I know we had it written in last year's IEP, and if it's not in this year's IEP, I will have it included. I have to go check! I am sympathetic to scheduling issues, however, last year she almost had to repeat due to this. So this is a serious issue. I did offer to bring Leela in early for services as an option, not sure if that's allowed. Gym is horrible for Leela, she can't do it. The kids are running laps around the gym, or playing dodge ball (ouch!). I don't know why the don't pull her out of gym for PT. She's recommended for adaptive gym, but the school doesn't offer it. That would seem to be a better option for at least one of the sessions.

Tutoring is a fortune here. I have dd in Kumon which is $300 a month for math and reading, and helping a ton (and she loves it). Additional tutoring would be about $100 per hour per subject a week. I can't pay that kind of money. I did last year for a few months to get her thru and it was running me $750 a month (Kumon math and reading + a weekly reading specialist - no one on one math tutoring).

I'll let you know how it all plays out! Thanks as always for your support. No one else gets it like you guys do! Hugs! Nancy

PS Bettina!!! Leela's not horseback riding now. I'm getting a divorce and we sadly can no longer afford it (my little rental cars by the hour doubled in price!), and STBX doesn't want to make allowances in "his time" for her to go to riding. Hoping one day we can do it again, I'm missing the smell of fresh hay and horse poops, lol!

Leela is fascinated by one of her classmates who has the headphone / microphone system in her class. I know they were testing it and teaching the teachers about the system the other day. very cool!!

Default For tutoring, I hire one of the better teachers at our school

for $25/hr.. Is that an option? I don't know how it works everywhere, but it is great for us.

You can't hire a teacher from the same school, so I hired a teacher from a neighboring school. She really was fantastic. NYC is crazy expense, on every level!

    Thanks for the idea! N
