Hoping to start process in Spring...

Hi everyone!

I hope some posters come out to visit. I love INCIID and it was a life-saver for me many years ago. I met so many wonderful people. It seems like the boards have been slow since they changed to the new ones. I had trouble getting activated, so I wonder if others have had the same situation. I hope to meet some wonderful people here! I recognize pepperlc. I hope you come back to post. Are you lurking out there?

Anyway, I'm hoping to adopt through the Foster Care System. My dh and I have discussed an older child, around the age of five. I am hoping in Spring to start the paperwork, classes, fingerprinting, and home study.

I adopted through foster care last year, and finalized in March of this year. It was a long process but so worth it. We waited over a year after approval, but we wanted a baby. We are starting to think of maybe adopting a 4 year old next, maybe.

I know this thread was a few months ago but I am hoping that you both are still around, I am adopting my now 6 year old son (I got him at birth). I am adopting him from a private individual not an angecy or system. I would like hpwever to become a foster mother. If you could would you explain the process for me please.

I started by contacting my county social services agency. Mine has a program set up where you take classes, have a homestudy done, get fingerprinted and then get matched. I would look online at your county agency, i'm sure they will have a starting point for you there.
