    Post Balanced Translocation and Inversion

    Dr. Coulam,
After 2 early losses I was told that I have a balanced translocation (9,10)(q22;q11.2). I was also told that my husband has an "insignificant" inversion.inv(10)(p11.2q21.2). I understand that my translocation is causing my miscarriages, but does the inversion also affect my chances of conceiving? The geneticist seemed to brush over the inversion and just focus on my translocation. Thanks for your help!

Usually inversions do not cause miscarriages. But since you lst with a donor egg, you should go back to your geneticist and ask specifically about your husband's inversion. Dr. Coulam

Hello, I have a Balanced Translocation of the X and 4 Chromosome. I have not found anyone with the same translocation as I do. Is this a rare translocation?

Your geneticist would have the best information about inversions. Usually most inversions do not cause miscarriages. I would take your geenticist advice. Dr. Coulam
